Scholarships
Every year, the Glocester Lions Club gives out two Scholarships to deserving
students graduating from Ponaganset High School so that they may have some financial assistance to further
their education.
The Pat DeFusco Scholarship is given out to
a graduating student based on his or her contributions of community service, extracurricular activities and scholastic
achievements. Pat was one of our original Charter Members of the Glocester Lions Club. His restaurant, Pat's Lakeview,
currently known as the Europa, served as our monthly meeting gathering place for years.
Lucas E. Warner
The
Glocester Lions Club is also very honored to have a scholarship set up in the name of Lucas E. Warner. This scholarship
is also given to a deserving student of Ponaganset High School upon their graduation.
Lucas Warner was a
young man who was everyone's friend. A student of Ponnaganset High School in Glocester, Rhode Island, Lucas
was well loved by many. He was simply a great kid with a wonderful sense of humor who loved music and the time spent with
family and friends.
Lucas was the beloved son of our brother, Lion Ed Warner. He was much loved
by his mom, Lynn Warner, and his brother, Brandon. Sadly, we all lost Lucas on July 8, 2007. He was only 17 years old.
We all miss you tremendously, Lucas. You will never be forgotten.
